do straight women have a role to play in rad fem? What is that role?

not to be a mean lesbian, but i think a better question would be do mlw have a role to play in heteropatriarchy? what is that role? and also maybe is it possible for them to stop playing that role? what conditions need to be met for the willing among them to be able to stop playing that role. how should the able but unwilling among them be regarded by women who suffer both misogyny and homophobia? where do girls and their safety and health rank in the priorities of the women’s liberation movements? is the goal of feminism women’s liberation or is it sth else?

The goal of feminism isn’t to achieve women’s liberation but to be an endlessly understanding and Validating support group for women who choose men; het and bi radfems have made that very clear.

How should the able but unwilling among them be regarded by women who suffer both misogyny and homophobia?” There is such extreme reluctance among all feminists to hold het and bi women accountable for their choices, for the ways they help keep patriarchy strong when they could choose otherwise, and prioritise and enable men and give their loyalty to men over women, with no concern for the ways they harm other women in the process. These “other women” are often mainly girl children and lesbians, whom no one cares about, not even self-proclaimed feminists. Lesbians must have endless empathy for mlw suffering in het relationships and are categorically not allowed to resent them for all the ways they willingly contribute to our oppression and choose to reap the benefits of it.

The separatism discussion is very telling in that it must always be limited to gently explaining to mlw why their lives could be better and safer if they chose to distance themselves from men (and even when we do so they react with repulsive amounts of lesbophobia), rather than pointing out that their choice to maintain and strengthen the political institutions based on heterosexuality is directly harmful to lesbians, as they receive societal privilege from partnering with men at our expense. They always inadvertently betray the fact that they don’t really believe in homophobia as an institutional oppression that they participate in and benefit from. (Which is how they can tell lesbians that we have no business commenting on their choice to date men as it doesn’t affect us at all. It wouldn’t if we didn’t live in a heteropatriarchy. But we do so it does.) So instead of being allowed to say “Wouldn’t it be nice if those among our oppressors who claim to have a “radical” “feminist” analysis of society would consider not willingly engaging in social systems that oppress us and are pushed up by keeping us down”, lesbians must always grovel and make it about statistics showing that women are happier single than in hetero relationships. Always make sure to make it about manloving women’s own self-interest or they won’t listen, because they sure don’t give a shit about what might be best for women as a whole, let alone lesbians as a group.

This reluctance to blame mlw for their freely-given support to patriarchy stems from the strong victim narrative they uphold for themselves—they can never be oppressors of other women, only victims of men (but also, paradoxically enough, victims of lesbians’ intolerable suggestions that they separate from the men who victimise them), even when their choice to partner with men and raise their daughters under the same roof as a man despite the known risks is a free and enthusiastic one. No one ever dares address the issue of little girls and the fact that none of them can choose whether or not they get to grow up without the risk posed by an adult male in the home; they must endure their mothers’ choices, and het and bi mothers very often choose keeping their predatory male partner around over keeping their daughter safe. As op said in her tags “#the narrative seems to favor a heterocentric view where poor mlw are victims of male misogyny and lesbian heterophobia #and everybody ignores one of the main ways that males get access to and authority over little girls”

tl;dr I wish discussions of separatism were less about lesbians begging mlw to care about themselves, and more about lesbians demanding that mlw start caring about us (and girl children) a little. But that won’t happen and if it did mlw would shut it down really fast.

bihet “feminists”: we’re gonna do EXACTLY the SAME THING that the great majority of women a.k.a. Us have been doing FOR CENTURIES but we’re gonna do it in a ~feminist way and that’s going to change the world for women and girls everywhere!!! somehow!!! because!

Diaries from the sub-nation

It’s curious to see people revisiting that post I wrote in a gust of fury about the fire in Rio’s Museu Nacional, considering what we’re facing in the coming years as a result of our catastrophic elections.

Not to downplay the fire – on the contrary, those who followed my posts on the matter know all about my outrage –, but we should keep in mind that times will be darker from now on. As I had previously diagnosed, most among my countrymen and women who expressed any sort of concern in regards to the museum’s destruction did so solely to join the choir of public discontent in empty theatrics rather than to express authentic grief and rage – had as many people who decried the crime been truly touched by it, surely they would not have elected a man who has absolutely no interest in defending any of our cultural heritage, as both his campaign (with zero mentions to fortifying cultural policies if elected) and his decisions today (as he dismantles every single ministry we have, including that of culture, even before he is officially put in power) attest to.

If you are on the lookout for disaster, I would recommend keeping an eye out for Brazil: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be run by a hysterical man who believes in “communist globalism” but not in global warming; the Ministry of Education will be under the supervision of a man who supports the tenets of the so-called Escola sem Partido project, which passes itself along as a guarantee against “Marxist indoctrination of children” and in favor of “combating ideological education” but in reality only seeks to silence and gag teachers, encourage historic revisionism – painting the military dictatorship of 1964-1985 as anything but the violent and repressive tyranny it was – and embolden students to openly persecute their teachers; the Ministry of Agriculture is to be run by a woman who sees no issue in bombing Brazilian soil with the deadliest chemicals available as well as being fully open to destroying natural land to favor aggressive agricultural practices, not to mention that her cabinet was also supposed to lead policies regarding the environment, something somebody somehow saw as antithetical – as it really is – so they decided to maintain those ministries separate, just placing yet another pawn for big land owners and enterprises at its head; the jumble of Human Rights, Women’s policies, “citizenship” or whatever the hell another ministry will eventually be called shall be commanded by a delusional female evangelical pastor who has no shame in proclaiming that women’s lot in life is to give birth…

The list goes on and on and the man hasn’t even stepped into office yet. So if you were in any way enraged by the symbolic destruction of Brazil’s past, I invite you to stay tuned for the next chapters, where we collectively witness the crumbling of its present and whatever there may be left of its coming years as well while the country is ravaged by ultra-neoliberal and ultra-conservative decisions.

And to think Stefan Zweig called it a land of the future…

Wth are you vagueing about now

You, most possibly, whoever you are, that you would send this in instead of thinking about what I wrote.

Every time I log in after a while away I am astonished by the complete lack of nuance some people on here have. It’s always existed, granted, but if you take a few steps back and then return it just becomes all that much more evident – and it’s a bit frightening that communication seems so feeble on a platform that should supposedly aid in creating social connections and whatnot.

Pro-tip: whenever you think it’s a good idea to post something on the internet, whether it be a text post on Tumblr or a tweet or a comment on someone’s blog, opt instead for not displaying your ignorance to the world and go read a book.

Talk less, think more. That goes for everyone.

Peace out.

Y’all, don’t put fake news on my dash, come on.

I know it’s easy to believe information when it confirms our bias, we all do that to some extent, but we have to be suspicious about everything nowadays – and I do mean everything.

Do your research before hitting that reblog button. It took me exactly one google search to find a reliable source that took down the fake information, literal seconds, to see that what was being said wasn’t true. Check the damn sources, investigate, be suspicious. We can’t organize to fight if we ourselves fall into the same trap of ignorance and rumor-spreading as the people we’re supposedly against.

Reading has got to go farther. It’s not just the words, it’s not just the between-the-lines, it’s gotta be everything; it was always meant to be everything for those attempting to really grasp at meaning: it’s form and it’s content, it’s text and it’s context.

The competence we’re most in need of today isn’t mathematics, or programming or even speaking publicly – it’s reading.

Don’t let yourself overlook that.

it’s exhausting being a woman we really have no allies, even among ourselves. our greatest enemy and source of endless violence and hatred against us is men, and the second is other women. how do you live like that? knowing that the so many of the people that are supposed to know what it’s like to be a woman and how it means to be treated poorly because of it, will spit in your face and gladly join forces with men to keep you all in line? it’s unfair and it hurts
